Subject: More 76 Energy
Subject: More 76 Energy
I've noticed a lot of these June 76 shows start off with a ton of energy in tunes like TMNS, Cold Rain, Sugaree, and Help>Slip>Frankins. This night
...
was no exception. US Blues and TMNS get the audience in the mood for a Grateful Dead concert right away. Things slow down with beautiful renditions of Crazy Fingers and Comes a Time. Pretty standard material for the remainder of the fist set, featuring a trademark 76 slowed down TLEO, to be compared with the super fast versions from 73. Promised closes off the set, as is becoming routine by this point, a mildly interesting change from its role as a show opener for much of 73.
The second set is really hot. Super cool Playin>Drums>Wheel>Playin sandwich gets the ball rolling. Playing Wheel early in the second set seems to be routine for this era, and I can't get enough of it. Eyes>Dancin has some incredible jams with Jerry going crazy on the guitar solos. Around>GDTRFB>Sat Night carry energy comparable to 72 Sugar Mags and make for a powerful end to a fantastic night of music. So grateful all this music is available on here for those of us who missed the opportunity to see it live to live vicariously through!
